New Here?

We are glad you have chosen to visit our church.  We are aware that about 85% of the time, a visit to a church website is a person’s first contact with a church.  We have tried to design our website in such a way that you can catch a glimpse into the heart of the First Baptist Church of Wake Village. If you live in the Texarkana area, we cordially invite you to worship with us.  You may be new to the area, or you may just be looking to attend a church for the first time in quite a while.  Either way, we understand that visiting a church can be an intimidating experience.  Not knowing what to wear or where to park or what to expect can sometimes keep people from from visiting a church.  Below you will find some information that will be helpful as you plan your visit to visit FBC Wake Village.

How will I find my way?

We want you and your family to feel at home!  We are located at 820 Wake Avenue in Wake Village, Texas.  If you have any questions not answered here, please call the church office at 903.832.4588.  We can also arrange a tour of the church facilities and a conference with your family and a deacon or a member of our ministry staff to help you acquaint yourself with our facilities before you visit.  This may be especially helpful to your children if they might be apprehensive about attending a Sunday school class.

Where do I park?

You will find plenty of guest parking in front of our Education building.  These parking spaces are clearly labeled.

How Should I dress?

There is no dress code for members or guests.  Most people dress business casual, whatever that means!

What are the services like?

Sunday Morning: We have two services with a combined attendance of about 325 each week.

Our 8:00 a.m. service is attended by a small faithful group of worshipers (about 70 people).  The service is held in the Fellowship Hall.  The pastor preaches the same message in both services.  However, the musical worship in the early service is shorter and is presented with fewer instruments.

Our 10:30 a.m. service is our primary worship gathering for the week.  The full praise band and the adult choir help lead our musical worship.  We sing the tried and true hymns of our faith as well as the great new songs that are being given to the church by terrific contemporary songwriters.  Our service style would  be characterized as “blended.”

However,  it isn’t our aim to appease anybody’s musical taste.  We sings songs that allow us to express our hearts to God as we adore Him, revere Him, repent of our sins before Him, and Confess our faith in Him.  The song may be old or new, but it must be true and grounded in the truths of scripture.  The main focus of our Sunday morning service is the preaching of God’s word by our pastor.

Sunday Night:  We have an informal worship service that we call “Family Worship” that consists of musical worship and preaching.  We encourage families to sit together and worship during this special time as we gather together at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Wednesday Night:  On Wednesday night prayer needs are presented to the church and prayed over by the pastor.  Following this time of prayer, an in-depth Bible study on a book of the Bible or a particular subject is taught by the pastor.  The prayer time begins at 6:15 p.m.

Am I expected to give in the offering?

No.  You are not being invited to our church for your offering.  No one will expect you to give and you should feel no pressure to  do so.

What about my Children?

Children’s and Pre-school activities are offered during all of our Sunday and Wednesday activities.   Children are also invited to attend worship services with their families!
