First Baptist Church Wake Village Benevolence Ministry

Our benevolence application process is time consuming and very involved.  Before you fill out an application and request and interview appointment, you may want to know the following about our benevolence policy:

  • The benevolence ministry is mainly handled by a team of church members, not the church office.  It may take several days, up to a week before you hear back from our team.  If you need quick or emergency financial help, you may need to seek it elsewhere.  We normally respond in writing to a mailing address you provide.
  • All applicants must fill out an Application in full, regardless of the request:

  • After you have filled out the Application, an electronic copy will be emailed to all team members for careful consideration and input.  We will carefully consider the things you write down.  We will determine if we can help.
  • You may be asked to attend another meeting with more members of our benevolence team following your initial interview to develop an action plan.
  • We usually do not pay utility bills, rent, deposits of any kind, motel room bills, loan payments or other financial obligations that you have incurred.
  • The help we offer will probably not involve any financial assistance.
  • We will offer you guidance from a biblical point of view and propose a plan of action that will involve you working towards financial independence to support yourself and your family.
  • Sometimes our recommendations are drastic and life-changing.  They generally require that the applicant implement lifestyle changes and develop new habits.
  • We will not be offended if you do not seek assistance from us, but we encourage you to at least listen to what we have to say even after another organization has met an immediate financial need.
  • We do not assist fugitives. If you have an active arrest warrant, we will not help you until after you have turned yourself in.  We do not post bail or pay for bonds.
  • We will not assist persons who are not in complete probation or parole compliance or not meeting child support obligations.
